Hockey boss Passmore names Irish training squad

Ireland's new men’s hockey coach Dave Passmore has included five uncapped players in his 28-man training squad which will travel to Spain later this month.

Dublin University duo Peter Blakeney and Phelie Maguire are joined by Richard Arnopp (Cork Church of Ireland), Eugene Magee (Banbridge) and Gareth Watkins (Monkstown) in the group heading to Terrassa for the five-day camp from January 22.

Watkins is one of four players from the regional development squad who have been selected by the former England coach for further assessment, the others being Glennane’s Joe Brennan and Annadale pair Jonathan Quigley and David Robb.
