Saturday 17 February 2007

Mens Irish Senior Cup Quarter Final

Banbridge (A)   1
Harlequins (A)   3

Scorers: M. Black, D. Eakins, R. Gash

Quins produced a very good preformance to get the better of Banbridge in this ISC quarter final tie at Havelock Park.

David Eakins opened the scoring from the first corner of the match when he powered a drag flick past Gareth Lennox in the 6th minute. Banbridge were pushing forward to get back in the game when Quins struck again to go 2 up. A Philip O'Driscoll pass from deep in the Quins half found Richard Gash just inside the Banbridge half. Richard beat the defender closest to him & made a powerful run towards the circle & picked out the run of Mark Black. Mark appeared to be impeded by the keeper but he still managed to hit the back board as he fell to ground.

Banbridge threw everything into attack at the start of the second half but Quins stood very firm in defence & chances were limited at both ends. Having thwarted this initial thrust Quins had chances from corners but failed to take advantage. Banbridge got back in the game mid way through the half scoring on the counter attack after a Quins corner went wrong. The game was made safe 4 minutes from time as Richard Gash volleyed to the net following good approach work from David Egner & Richard Gash.
