Harlequins Cricket Match Report

Munster Division 1

Harlequins 1 beat Midleton 1 by 3 wickets

Played at Farmers Cross on Sunday 29th June 2003

Harlequins 1st continued their winning form with a four wicket victory over Midleton.

Midleton won the toss and elected to bat. Midleton were slow to start due to some tight bowling from Quinton Claassen and Rick Barlow. Harlequins picked up a few early wickets to put the visitors under pressure. With four wickets down Midleton's S.Pendle led a small revival until he was caught in the deep off Derek Tate's bowling when he was on 35. Midleton finished 141 for 9 off their 50 overs including an astonishing 49 extras. This total also could have been a lot less also if Harlequins fielding hadn't been so slack.

Quins opened their innings with Derek Tate and Richard Gash. Their partnership was going strongly and were on 82 in the 17th over when Richard Gash got a top edge off Ken Higgs bowling, which was easily caught in the covers. One over later Clinton Laverty clean bowled Tate. Rick Barlow and Daryl Moiser both took up their places, but Higgs picked up both their wickets shortly afterwards, when their scores were on 17 and 8 respectively. Quinton Claassen and Billy Perrott were also unable to finish off the innings. Rogan Gee and Liam Hale did this job with their wickets intact.

Despite the win Harlequins were disappointed with the loss of 2 points due to the amount of wickets lost.

Harlequins: Derek Tate, Richard Gash, Rick Barlow, Daryl Moyser, Quinton Claassen, Rogan Gee, Billy Perrott, Donovan Gee, Liam Hale, Seamus Gee, David Gash.
