About Us
Whilst the Harlequins Club was established in 1925, it was not until 1968 that the Harlequins Cricket Section came into being. Otherwise know as 'Cork Harlequins CC',
Cork Harlequins Cricket
Section still boasts one of its founder members as a
contemporary member
- Jack Russell. Jack, now in his late-sixties, still plays on an occasional basis.
One of the major contributors to the history of
cricket at Harlequins, John Rolf, sadly passed away
in 2007 - he is greatly missed.
The recent history of 'Quins Cricket has been very positive. We currently field
three weekend teams and two mid-week '20/20' teams, and have a membership of some
forty plus adults, and some fifty plus so regular under-18 players.
2008 was a moderate year, largely
spoiled by the weather. Badly rain affected Munster
league and cup campaigns meant our 1st team finished
runners-up in Munster Division 1, and the Munster
Senior Cup was deferred to the 2009 season (since
played and lost). Our 2nd team held its own in
Division 2, without excelling, and our 3rd team,
very ably lead by Dave Peet, was only denied the
Division 3 title by rained off matches, and the
Minor Cup by (again) the rain.
In 2007, as in 2008, we fielded three teams - one in each of the
three Munster divisions. The 1st team, with an
influx of talent at the start of the season, easily
won the Senior Cup and League - the 'double'. The
2nd team faired much less well, and with two
captains stepping aside during the season, the lack
of continuity meant a second from bottom finish in
the league, and being knocked out of the junior cup
in the first round.

As ever, 2007 saw plenty of midweek ‘20/20’ cricket - but
alas no trophies. 2007 also saw us host a 7-a-side tournament,
for the second successive year, that again was a raging success - both in terms of the cricket enjoyed, and the money
made!!
Also worthy of recent note are the
Irish Lottery grants that we were awarded in both
2002 and 2005. These have greatly helped the
development of our facilities with the addition of a
new artificial wicket to the side of the square, a
new artificial practise net, and, most recently, some
fantastic covers. Our next aim is some top-quality
sight-screens. Any would-be sponsors - please don't
be shy in contacting us!
Finally, as in every year, we played a good number of friendlies against both UK and Irish teams during
2007 and 2008. These are always enjoyable and we always try to organise hospitality after the games.

CC side, please email .
