Harlequins Mens Hockey Match Report
Quins 'B' 3 - 0 UCC 'A'
Munster Division 1
Saturday 05th March 2005
Scorers: Stuart Egner 2, Killian Deasy
Quins 'B' had a well-deserved victory over the weekend when the finished 3-
0 winners over College up in Quins on Saturday.
The game was even enough at the start, with both sides having plenty of
the play. UCC were first to have a short corner, but we defended it well.
As the half went, Quins got on top and only for a sequence of good saves
from the College goalie and some poor finishing both from play and corners,
the sides were still level coming up to half-time. But finally Stuart Egner
flicked to the net after a good run by Killian Deasy.
Quins started well in the 2nd half and only the crossbar denied David Gash's
deflection in the 2nd minute. But after our 6th penalty corner the pressure
finally paid and when Philip O'Driscoll's drag-flick went through the keeper,
there was Stuart again to finish it off from less than a foot!
The third goal came soon after when a direct shot from a corner from Killian
Deasy was deflected high in the net by a college defenders stick.
After that, a number of chances were spurned, particularily when Stuart
had a great chance to get his hat-trick but shot wide.
All in all, it was an important win for the seconds and keeps them in 3rd
position in the league.
