Harlequins, without their inspirational coach and chief guru David Egner, fielded an inexperienced team when they faced Belvedere in Harlequins last Sunday. Included in the side were a few new faces. Quins played well throughout although it was evident at times that some of the team were not used to playing together.

Belvedere were first off the mark when they scored a deflection from a free just inside Quins 25 yard line after 20 mins. Quins were somewhat disapointed with the lack of marking that led to the goal.

Some scrappy persistent play by quins and some good advantage by the umpires led to an Eileen Collins equaliser just before the half time whistle.

5 minutes into the second half Quins found themselves once again behind when a Belvedere forward touched home a crash ball from outside the circle.

A look back at the game would have put the first half about even between both teams, although Belvedere were slightly stronger in the second and probably deserved the Win.
