In a very hard fought game, played at Villiers school, Quins eventually finished winners of the Peard Cup Final by 5-1. Limerick began in very determined mood & took the lead with a reverse stick strike from close range with only two minutes on the clock. Quins found it difficult to break down some very determined Limerick defending & they also posed problems with some very fast counter attacks. Quins equalised in the 27th minute of the 1st half from a David Eakins short corner. The first half ended 1-1 with everything to play for.
Quins went very much on the offensive at the start of the second half & took the lead in the 8th when Richard Gash deflected the ball past the keeper to the net. 3 more goals followed between the 16th & 20th minutes. Edward Gash took a very quick free to Richard, who returned a quick pass & Edward beat the keeper from close range. David Eakins then scored two corners in two minutes to complete his hat trick & bring his total for the weekend to 5.
