With Joe O' Mahony still in Waterford and Philip Shine injured (again), the fourths made a very unsettled start in this league match against C of I. A feature of the first 25 mins was how well we gave the ball to the opposition. We paid for our sloppiness by going behind after 20 mins when Niall Costigan beautifully deflected the ball into the path of an in-rushing C of I forward. We were back in the game 5 mins later with a goal from a short corner by Alan Byran. A very constructive half time talk from coaches David Shine and Hugh Rothwell put us on the right track. Adopting a much tighter marking policy & with better speed of passing chances came with increasing regularity. Four of the chances were taken & twice as many were passed up but it ended in a comfortable victory.
