Quins 2nds qualified for round two with a hard fought win over C of I 3rds. Quins began brightly but were denied by some fine goalkeeping & stout defending by a very experienced C of I team. As the first have progressed C of I became more confident & took the lead with an excellent finish after 18 minutes. For the next 10 minutes C of I dominated & pressed forward with Nigel Bryan making 3 tremendous saves in the Quins goal. After this Quins upped the tempo again & created some very good situations but failed to score.

Into the second half C of I adopted a more defensive posture & Quins continued to press forward. Richard Gash deflected a tremendous drive from a short corner over the keeper for the equaliser after 15 minutes. 5 minutes later & Quins took the lead with another short corner strike from Smokie.

Quins 2nds will play Annadale 2nds at home in the Irish Junior Cup next Saturday, 12 January, at 1.30pm.
